Different Types of Hat Closures

When choosing a hat, there are so many things to consider first, both in terms of style and suitability. Especially if you are looking for a custom hat.

It's not just about the texture, construction or materials used, but everything, even the smallest details of the design matter. Now let's discuss the types of hat closures.

Two Types of Hat Closures

In a nutshell, there are two different variants of hat closures.

1. Adjustable closure

2. non-adjustable (also known as fitted hat closure)

Adjustable closures

A second type that comes in a variety of designs and colors is the adjustable hat closure. This type of closure allows you to adjust the size of the hat, and unlike fitted hats, they have an opening on the back directly above the closure to allow room for necessary adjustments.

They are usually cheaper than their fitted counterparts. These types of hats are usually more popular than fitted hats, not only because they are cheaper, but because buyers don't have to worry about measurements and sizing before they buy.

For this sole reason, adjustable hats are often preferred for group activities such as team sports (softball, baseball, etc.).

As mentioned earlier, one of the obvious advantages of adjustable closures is the opening in the back that allows men or women with long hair to tie their hair into a ponytail and remove it from the opening rather than uncomfortably or awkwardly tucking it into the hat.

Non-adjustable cap closure

Let's start with the non-adjustable or fitted cap closure. This is obvious from the name itself, as these types of caps do not have any type of medium or mechanism to adjust the size of the cap and fit a specific head size and have stretchable fabric that fits your head.

They also need to be measured before they can fit your head properly. You can recognize this type of closure by the back of the hat's closure.
